A little bit about me: If pressed I'd have to say I'm a femme, but I don't fit neatly into that tiny box. Yes, I'm more "bottom" than top. My most exciting sexual encounters have been with stone butches (as defined here). But I hate to wear dresses/skirts & if I could wear jeans to everything I would. Most days I use no makeup (I have plenty, use it when I "need" to). I prefer sneakers over pumps. I've always been a Tomboy tho I'm "well past 30something": tinker on my own car & everything. As if that wasn't enough, I'm a chocolate hued Caribbean born sistah, but so help me I prefer a little "cream" in my coffee ... if y'know what I mean. It seems that most people tend to not cross ethnic lines, but I step boldly into the forbidden territory.
I'm strongly attracted to androgynous, boyish women, but I don't like "mannish" women who look/behave like a dude ... y'know, shaven heads, male characteristics and so on. And yet, I look at a woman like Alicia Keys & my knees go weak (but that probably applies to all of us, huh? :D). Am I confusing you? Does anyone understand me? Most importantly, is there a woman out there who would accept me with these quirks?
(I know I haven't posted a pic yet ... I'm a bit timid in this respect, but I promise you I'm real easy on the eyes.)

honestly, i hate labels. i am who i am & especially style wise, that changes daily lol some days i want to wear a dress and heels and makeup and do my hair and other days jeans and a tshirt with my hair in a ponytail is perfect. that's also why i don't have a specific "type" of woman i'm attracted to...it's about a connection & personality. i refuse to classify anything and i'm not looking to categorize myself or others. it's just not necessary in my opinion =)

coffee2, I am in the same boat as you, but at the other end, I look like a total butch, but I am not. I do on occasion wear make up, and I do carry a pocketbook from time to time. I live out in the country where having to worry about how I am dressed doesn't matter. I only have one "dress code" and that is when I ride my Harley, of course, I have to wear my leathers. As far as women, I am attracted to the whole person, not just looks, although, yes they do help.

Well said, Tristan. I agree with your evaluation. I know that there are times when people might think I'm butch. I will crawl under my truck in a minute, I'll change a flat, climb on the roof of my house to clean the gutters. But whenever I go out, the earrings, the tight Jeans, the hair must be just right. And I LOVE pocketbooks, LOL. My friend calls me a bag lady.
But the lesbians I know seem to live by these classifications. The so-called butches don't care for me because I'm not "girly" enough; the "femmes" are looking for a butch. As for me, I love women who are ... well, women. I don't want someone to look at me & my partner & think: this or that one is "the man". Ugh!!

Its good to not fit! Labels are good for inanimate stuff. Things that dont change. I am primarily just me. I think Im very gay. Friends have said I dont look gay. Whatever that means. Lol. Some days Im more butch than others. I see beauty in everything and everybody. Especially if I start from the inside. Aestetically, I love women! Strong & butch, soft and femm, strong & femme, soft & butch, its all good! The beauty is in the being! The only beings that actually like pigeon-holes are pigeons, and even they like to get out and spread their wings.

I think I get you... I'm Femme, but kinda a tomboy too. Growing up I was into playing detective and climbing trees... yeah I loved that. I'm lite on the makeup myself, but love my lipstick, I'm a girl totally - looking for a lovely lady.

I find your selfwritten expression of who you are to be very free flowing. I 2 tinker on my own car and do wear make up when called for but prefer the country gal look. I find shaved heads a little off setting. Take care.
